Pilar de la Huerta

Pilar de la Huerta Martinez - MBA – CEO

Pilar de la Huerta has accumulated an extensive experience in the biotechnology sector over the last 15 years. From 2006, she was a strategic consultant within several companies, such as Viamed Salud Group, where she was responsible for R&D and New Business and was appointed CEO of the two most innovative companies within the Group: Araclon Biotech, SL. and Viamed Technology Investments. Before that, she was CEO at Neuropharma (currently Noscira) and assumed various responsibilities within the Zeltia Group. Pilar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Administration by the UCM and has completed the IESE's Advanced Management Program (AMP) and Program for Management Development (PMD) courses in the Navarra University.

   
Juan Carlos del Castillo

Juan Carlos del Castillo - Operations Director

Juan Carlos holds a Bachelor degree in Economics & Business Management and specializes in Innovation Management. He has played a key role in the development of Biotechnology in Spain in both public institutions and private companies. He was the manager of the Spanish National Center for Biotechnology , and founder and General Manager of Bionostra, Chimera Pharma and Microbionta. He has been lecturer of the Health Executive MBA of the ESCP Europe and has won several excellence awards.

   
Gabriel Márquez

Gabriel Márquez, PhD - Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Director

Gabriel holds a Degree and a PhD in Biological Sciences from Universidad Complutense and has 20+ years experience in Research and Development. He has been Director of the R&D Departments at Farmitalia Carlo Erba, Pharmacia & Upjohn, Pharmacia Corporation and Quintiles in Spain, as well as Director of the Department of Immunology and Oncology at the Spanish National Center for Biotechnology. Gabriel has participated in the design and follow up of clinical trials and he was responsible for the conducting of preclinical safety and concept test studies for products that eventually reached the clinical stage, including two products currently at an advanced clinical stage that have obtained Orphan Drug designations in Europe and the US.

   

Miguel Mulet - Business Development Director

Miguel holds an MEng in Electronic Engineering por el Imperial College de Londres, Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in image guided diagnostics, and an MBA from the Universidad of Oxford. He co-founded Mirada Solutions Ltd, a spin-off from the Wolfson Medical Vision Lab. At Oxford acquired in 2003 by CTI Molecular Imaging, which is now part of Siemens Molecular Imaging. At Mirada he directed R&D projects, business development in the area of cardiovascular imaging and quality deployment. After Mirada he joined Janssen Pharmaceutica, the Pharma división of Johnson & Johnson in EMEA in charge of process improvement and strategic support for the EMEA region.

   
Neil Thomas

Neil Thomas, PhD - Intellectual Property Director

Neil holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He joined Genetrix in 2006 from bioXell S.p.A. in Milan, Italy, where he was Director of Intellectual Property and Technology. Prior to this, he worked for over six years in London-based European Patent Attorney firms, advising academic and industrial clients in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. He has experience in patent drafting, patent portfolio management, licensing agreements and technology exploitation. Neil is the Adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property in the Life Sciences Industry at the IE Business School, Madrid.

   
Lourdes Lapeña

Lourdes Lapeña - Chief Financial Officer

Lourdes has more than 6 years of experience in corporate finance. She joined Genetrix from Arthur Andersen, where she worked on accounting and supply projects for companies including Microsoft Iberia. Previously, she was senior auditor at Fábregas Mercade. She holds a masters degree in Financial Management from the School of Industrial Organization (Escuela de Organización Industrial) in Madrid.

   
Luis Rocabruna

Luis Rocabruna - Human Resources Director

Luis has over 12 years experience in the multinational Grupo Ferrovial, where has was Head of Human Resources Development in the real estate area, He participated in various projects involving corporate executives with multinational character, and specialized in organizational development and management skills. Luis graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid, holds a Master’s in Management of Human Resources and Company Training and holds a Diploma in Management and Development of People (DDP) from the business school ESADE.

   
Antonio Gómez-Almansa

Antonio Gómez-Almansa Plaza - Chief Counsel

Antonio graduated in law from the San Pablo CEU University in Madrid, as a Technical Specialist in the Law of New Technology (DNT), and holds a Master’s in Business Law (MAJ) from the Instituto de Empresa, Madrid (IE). His professional experience has been developed in nationally and internationally reknowned law firms , working in various branches of law with special emphasis on Commercial and Corporate Law.

   
Juan Sebastián Ruiz

Juan Sebastián Ruiz - Institutional Relations Director

Juan Sebastian has specialized in attracting public funding for the last 7 years; Juan Sebastian has worked for companies like Repsol-YPF, Endesa and Gamesa Eólica. Currently, he is representing Genetrix, board member of several business associations in the biotechnology sector as ASEBIO, BIOMADRID and MADRID BIOCLUSTER, as well as a member of the Monitoring Committee of the National plan in Spain about R&D plus Innovation (I+D+i). Juan Sebastian has a degree in Law and Business Administration (University of Carlos III of Madrid).
